JOEL LANDAU

Joel Landau is an innovative healthcare entrepreneur dedicated to providing top-notch care to seniors in nursing homes throughout New York. Leveraging state-of-the-art technology and a highly skilled staff, Landau ensures positive patient experiences and the best possible outcomes.

The Allure Group grew out of Joel Landau’s own personal experience. Finding that the care his ailing grandfather received did not meet his expectations, Landau set out to create a healthcare network featuring the comprehensive care and integrated programs of for-profit facilities with the mission-driven and community-minded approach of nonprofits.

Joel Landau’s dream became a reality in 2012, when The Allure Group’s first facility opened. Over time he and his team continued to overhaul existing facilities and transform them into leading nursing homes and rehab centers that would meet and exceed patients’ short- and long-term needs. There are now six facilities in The Allure Group’s network.

Innovation is central to Joel Landau’s mission, as he is bent on integrating the latest technology with proven approaches, enabling The Allure Group to raise patients’ quality of life while coordinating with health plans to minimize costs. Residents at the Bedford Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, like the others throughout The Allure Group’s network, benefit from the following:

  • PadinMotion technology — a Samsung tablet accessible from all 1,400-plus beds in The Allure Group’s facilities, providing residents with entertainment options and the ability to contact loved ones;
  • EarlySense — a remote monitoring system that enables staff to track residents’ vital signs and body movements through sensors placed under mattresses;
  • Telemet RYK — a monitoring system geared specifically toward cardiac patients;
  • Vis A Vis — a telehealth solution allowing patients to make a virtual doctor’s visit following discharge from one of The Allure Group’s facilities, via a hand-held device.

Joel Landau is a strong believer in community-minded management, where quality of life comes first and residents’ needs are always met. Bedford residents have access to first-rate amenities including a personal concierge, housekeeping and laundry services and large private and semi-private rooms.

Bedford’s specialty services include the Longevity Garden, designed to meet the needs of our Chinese residents. It is staffed by nurse managers fluent in various Chinese dialects (as well as English), and features bilingual recreational activities and programs, authentic Chinese cuisine and various media offerings (print and broadcast) in Chinese.

Bedford is also known for its Jewish traditions, providing rabbinical services, a kosher menu and the daily minyan in the center’s newly renovated shul. In addition, davening and a full-course Shabbos meal is available to residents and family members in our Bikur Cholim room, and each of the Yomim Tovim in the Jewish calendar year is observed.

Bedford also features several unique clinical services, not the least of which is the Bedside Ventilator Dialysis Program. Working in concert with The Rogosin Institute, bedside dialysis is provided for ventilator-dependent patients, eliminating the need for travel to an off-site center.

There is also a ventilator-care unit and an orthopedic rehabilitation program at Bedford, the first to wean residents off ventilators, the second to help restore the function, balance and strength to those recovering from a wide variety of procedures and conditions, while also engaging in pain management.

Finally, Bedford is one of the facilities that hosts The Allure Group’s Hearts in Motion cardiac program, which was developed in concert with NYU Langone’s Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation. On-site cardiologists deliver first-rate care to patients facing heart illness, part of an initiative that also includes improvement protocols and educational programs designed to improve lifestyle choices.

Joel Landau is also a co-founder of Pinta Capital Partners, a healthcare private equity investment firm geared toward the industry’s lower middle market, including managed long-term care, behavioral healthcare, skilled nursing, assisted living, independent living and memory care.
